About Mountain Child Care:
Mountain Child Care
is an innovative NGO from The Netherlands, that organizes personal leadership programs for youth without parents and former street children in the metropolitan areas of Kathmandu and Pokhara. Our goal is to give Nepalese orphans (age 16-23) an experience that will inspire them and prepare them for a future in Nepalese society. Our goal will be achieved when we see these young people actively taking initiatives to prepare for their reintegration into society and, ultimately, when they avoid the poverty trap that the majority of their peers experience.

The programme consists of three phases: an introduction, a 6-days QuestTrek® in the Himalaya’s and an intensive aftercare program (QuestTribes). The overall program has the duration of 1 year. This 3-step personal development program serves as a means for better reintegration into society after leaving the orphanage/childrenshome. It aims to close the gap between the youths home and society. It is funded by Dutch and Nepalese individuals, funds and enterprises. Each QuestTrek® results in a personal development plan, carefully drawn up by every participant and assisted by a professional staff. It comes with an introduction and after care program (QuestTribes) to ensure that the youth can make their talent work.
